We called the Beauval Nature Care Centre and they said “come quickly”. 30 minutes later…
When you visit a zoo, you want to see remarkable animals, animals that are well cared for, and you want to see a lot of them. You want to see a lot because you love animals.
Today, the Beauval ZooParc is home to over 35,000 animals, representing around 800 species. And of course they are well cared for, the park is pretty and well maintained, and the shows are splendid. The staff are numerous and efficient. Investment is ongoing, which is probably why Beauval zoo is now the fourth most beautiful animal park in the world.
But today I’d like to draw attention to what makes Beauval Zoo Park a great park, with a capital G, a passionate park, a park with a deep love of animals.
During the month of March 2025, while Au Détour des Châteaux 🏰 was being renovated, we put up nesting boxes in various parts of the garden. We hoped, but were not sure, that the many birds – tits, wagtails and sparrows – would come and start a family! So it was a nice surprise when, at the end of May, we discovered that 2 nesting boxes were occupied!
Unfortunately, at the beginning of June, on a very windy day, we discovered a dead mother at the foot of a nesting box and the young in great distress!
And that’s when the legacy of Françoise Delord, founder of Beauval Zoo Park, kicks in. We called the “Centre de soin Beauval Nature” and they told us to come quickly. 30 minutes later, we were very well received at the centre, with the little tit that had fallen out of the nesting box and the complete nesting box.
They worked hard to collect all the chicks and returned the nest box to us with thanks. In the same day, they had welcomed 3 hedgehogs, 1 badger and several kinds of birds.
So, quite simply, I say Bravo. Of course, the company benefits from the infrastructure, the staff and the many volunteers… but the Beauval Park and the volunteers are under no obligation to do so. So I say BRAVO again.
These are premises, people, investments, time… at the service of nature. Au Détour des châteaux shares this same DNA.
On a daily basis, we are lucky enough to enjoy the wildlife that surrounds us: rabbits, deer, hares, pheasants, birds… so there are no lions, orang-utans, pandas or sea lions swimming in the pool, but they are there, all around us, and we watch them with the same pleasure!
This care centre is the largest in the central region for local wildlife.
